OVERCOMING THE ODDS
In 2010, we chose to leave a life of violence and abuse and unintentionally became part of 58,000 homeless individuals in Los Angeles. We lived out of our car for six weeks on Cherry Beach, Long Beach, swimming, showering, and picnicking there for every meal as if just another vacationing family. When school started, we were still homeless and out of resources. "We were bullied for our size, our race, and other things, including the see-through ziplock sack the shelter gave us for our lunches." ~Adam
"SquishyFish" is a name we used on Skid Row to cheer us up. Mom picked us up from the after- school program and ask, Where are my lil' fishies (us)? And my squishies (hugs)? WE were HER 'SquishyFishies'. We still are." ~Daniel
Today, SquishyFish encourages kids and teens to be socially responsible leaders in our communities. "We are solving an issue that plagues our society...child and family homelessness. SquishyFish brings hope to families everywhere." ~Victoria
Remember, adversity and tribulation are merely stepping stones to great things that can be accomplished with desire for the best outcome, perseverance, and determination.
YES, IT IS POSSIBLE!
We believe housing our homeless neighbors is the key! So, we've partnered with PATH-People Assisting The Homeless.
